Hall of Fame Selection Criteria

1. Players, Teams and Coaches: must be 5 seasons removed from the Black Tiger Baseball Program. Criteria listed below will be considered by the Black Tiger Diamond Alumni Club board, but is not limiting in special circumstances.

a. Players: Consideration will be based on, achievement in athletic competition as demonstrated by regular and/or post season honors, team captaincy, record-setting performances and/or being the outstanding performer on a team(s).

b. Teams: Consideration will be based on, outstanding achievements as a team, regular and/or post season records, league championships, and/or any special team recognitions.

c. Coaches: Head and/or Assistant coaches on any level in the Black Tiger Baseball Program. Consideration will be based on, regular and/or post season win-loss records, league championships, and/or any special recognitions.

2. Special/Service: Special/Service candidates include school administrators as well as non-school related individuals who have made major contributions to the Black Tiger Baseball Program. This category could include individuals who have volunteered their time and efforts to the program, individuals who have provided financial assistance or individuals who, in the Black Tiger Diamond Alumni Club’s opinion are deserving.

a. Candidates for Honorary Induction will be discussed on a case by case basis.

Hall of Fame Selection Procedures

1. All entries must be submitted using the Black Tiger Diamond Alumni Club Hall of Fame nomination form. The form can be found on the Black Tiger Diamond Alumni Club website.

a. Deadline for nominations will be the January 31st of each year.

2. The Black Tiger Diamond Alumni Club will not accept self-nominations and respectfully requests that relatives not be nominators or references.

3. The nomination form calls for the inclusion of 2 references in addition to the nominator. The references are mandatory. References may be contacted to verify a nominee’s eligibility.

4. Nominees shall be persons of good character, citizenship and sportsmanship. Teams and individual records, statistics, contributions to the team, and certain intangibles are all to be considered.

5. The Black Tiger Diamond Alumni Club shall be free to select inductees from all eras of Black Tiger Baseball. All members will have a pre-selection list and helpful information at the discussion meetings.

a. Black Tiger Diamond Alumni board members must attend at least one of the two discussion meetings to be eligible to participate in the voting process.

i. Discussion meetings will be our February and March meetings each year. Voting and selections will be made at the end of our March meeting.

6. Popular vote by Black Tiger Diamond Alumni board members is required to be elected into the Hall of Fame.

7. As of January 1st, 2023, there are no minimum or maximum number of selections for each season.

After voting, all selected will be invited to join us for induction at our ALUMNI DAY game each season.
